My Dad is 81 has had a chest infection last week - he has just finished his Amoxcillian and seemed o.k, but it left him with a irritating cough. This morning his voice is all horse.
He managed to get an appointment at the Docs. She examined him and has prescribed Predmisolone 5mg. He has to take it for a week. She said take 6 tablets straight away and the same every day for a week.

Obviously the coughing has made his airways inflammed, as this tablet is a steriod.

Do you think it sounds right, taking six 5mg tablets all at once every day ?

Sqad - those Predmisolone don't seem to have kicked in yet - My Dad is still coughing bad at night and sounds terrible. Today is the third day - his GP said he would notice a difference the next day.
Den.......I must say that a steroid spray would have been my choice, but give it another couple of days eh?

Thanks Sqad - thats what I keep saying to my Dad - he is getting impatient and the coughing is knocking him for six.

Just an update Sqad - those Predmisolone meds never worked for my Dad, he is still coughing, despite finishing the course. Had a lung test at the Docs, he said his lungs were clear, so prescribed an inhaler.

The chemist was supposed to order it on Friday, but they have forgot (idiots) and said because it is a powder inhaler, they don't keep it in stock.

What is the difference between the powder version and the normal inhaler ?
Den....no idea.....except one contains a powder and the other an aerosol solution.

Seems bloody inefficient from the chemist.

Should have had a spray from the start.
