When your friend likes the person you like

If you really liked someone and were texting and hanging out and getting on really well and then found out that your friend liked them too, what would you do?
Would you take a step back to prevent you friend getting hurt/jealous etc or would you still go ahead with the person you like?

In a similar situation and would appreciate some advice.

I take it you mean you and your friend both like the idea of having him/her exclusive to you?

No-one can force anyone on anybody, and a step back is not always the wisest move.

If you're not "into" his friend then it's a no-brainer I'm afraid. His pal is going to get hurt whichever way the cards fall, so to speak.

He's going to have to understand that in life, folk do get upset about things they have no coltrol over.

Albaqwerty, i am a mix of annoyed and upset.
His friend asked me out other day, I said no as I ain't into him that way at all, I barely know him.
I have been hanging out and getting on really well with this other guy who is his friend, but last night the guy who asked me out told the guy i like that he really liked me and now the guy i like wants to take a step back to prevent his friend getting hurt.
(Sorry at how that is phrased)
I'm upset cause I like this guy and he likes me too but I am annoyed because his friend doesn't want us to be together. Why can't he just be happy for his friend??

Lunch would be cheaper, find out what he says. If he says oh great, "friend" will like to come along too, then you know the heart-breaking answer.

Alba he told me we can be friends but there is no chance of it developing further like it could have because his friend told him it would kill him if he seen us together (bullsh!t!!)
I have told him i don't fancy his friend and that I like him instead.
Circumstances suck and I think his friend should let us do what we want after all i did tell him i wasn't into him that way.
I understand the theory that friends before girls and all but it's still annoying

Exactly Alba, i thinks it's sweet that he doesn't wanna hurt his friend but he can't go on like that, worrying if he is going to upset them all the time

One of my sons is now with the ex-g/f of one of his pals. The sons ex g/f is pals with the current g/f. All seems to be sweet, I can't get shot of any of them, I guess it's down to maturity and as everyone matures/cooks at their own level, they take it in their stride.

Most of "the crew" (I call them) are stoating about as I type :)
