books for men about dating women

A friend of mine's son is having serious problems understanding women and getting them to go out with him. Neither she nor I feel able or qualified to guide him. Are there any appropriate books you'd recommend that she can give him?

Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, or Brain Sex. Not so much for dating but certainly it opens your eyes to major psychological differences between the sexes and brilliantly explains the grades of difference between us all in general life and sex.
The books also make you realise why there are feminine men, masculine women and all the transgender sexuality in between as well as being bisexual. They also explain a lot about about fetishes as well.
There are a lot of bigots and opinionated folk in these matters on AB who would benefit from readng these two tomes as well.

Women often claim that men are poor communicators but the truth is that women are generally very poor listeners when it comes to hearing what men have to say. Women tend to be emotionally self obsessed and instead of listening to what the man is saying they are thinking about how they can put a slant on the converstaion to get it back to being about themselves.
Eventually a lot of men abandon any attempt to communicate with women on an emotional level because is seem so futile. Women then feel justified in the accusation that men are poor communicators.
