with a miserable old man that is obnoxious ?
He lives in our 6 block of flats and makes it his business to annoy everyone. This time it is leaving the main door on the latch, instead of closing it to. This means it is not secure. He has been told by everyone about it, including the the maintenance team who own the building, notices have been put up, we all live alone so it is a problem as you do not know who is inside the building. We are tearing our hair out at his antics.

I'm not suggesting you can reason with him but what reason does he give for leaving the door on the latch?

He says it isnt him it is someone else, but I followed him out today and it was him, he tells lies.

Write to the landlord and again and again all of you eventually they may threaten him with eviction.... is he obnoxious or is he ill maybe with memory problems

He offends everyone in our block, he is dirty and leaves rubbish everywhere. We think he drinks, he just likes to be awkward, reports people for nothing, management know what he is like even saying he is anti social, but seem at a loss as what to do

He kept leaving the doors on the latch and breaking the locks, so they took off all the snibs and tie backs, none of us wanted this but they seem to only please him

Assuming yuo are a private tenant try the private tenants officer at your local council they may be able to put more pressure on the landlord

How old is he? An aged relative became incredibly awkward and cantankerous in the early stages of dementia.

Two of us own our flats in this block the other 4 are housed by an association, ex council

70's I would say, but they say he has been like this for years

if he's leaving rubbish etc try the antisocial behaviour team

It has all been done, he gets told off and then he goes back to doing it again

The local press quite like anti social oap stories worth a try

Those doors with a spring on the top that you walk through and they close themselves or have the special contraption fitted on it by maintainance. Or you could all club togather and get it done.

We have those, (there are 2 outside doors ), keep telling management that the thick coconut matting is stopping it shutting too, maybe the door has swelled, all to no avail.
