URGENT HELP: Are there fake emails from Thomson Airways going about
I booked two flights yesterday and I had a booking confirmation by email and the money has been taken from my bank account, but this morning I received an email in my spam folder saying it was from Thomson to telephone 02476282201 to be asked some security questions to finalise my booking by 8pm this evening or my booking will be cancelled. I have booked flights with Thomson before and never been asked this before so I am wondering if this email is genuine. I would telephone Thomson to check but I am at work at the moment.
Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks in advance

Just telephoned Thomson on the 08712314787 number and told them about the email and they said everything was OK with my booking and that the email was fake, luckily I did not telephone the 02476282201 number. Or call a number that's known to be Thomson and ask them...

seem a little strange to me because thomson use non-geographical numbers for everything else but the number you've quoted is a Coventry number.

The only holiday information was a booking reference number but it was a plain email with nothing showing it was from Thomson, just saying it was from The Thomson Validation Team although the email came from a [email protected]. I have looked on the Thomson website and the only numbers I can find are 0871 and 0844 numbers not ones beginning with 02476.

Something seems odd here.
I find it hard to believe -or very worrying- that a 'fake' email would contain your correct booking number. How would anyone have got hold of your details? If Thomson really felt it was fake they should be worried about how the fraudsters got your correct booking ref.
If it contained your name then it's even more worrying.
