Those of you with partners or husbands/wives, do you do everything together or do you each have your own interests which sometimes keeps you apart? My wife and I do everything together and we never get tired or bored of each other whatever we are doing, maybe we are lucky, I don't know. Yet there are other couples who find it is healthy to have partly separate lives. What do others think?

Were together 24/7, unless I go shopping with a pal.
We cant be bothered to go different ways with new interests lol
We have three lives in our marriage his, mine and ours.

We have our own friends and joint friends, our own interests and joint interests and we also holiday separately as well as together.

For us this is a healthy arrangement as we often spend months apart due to work commitments.

I have friends who are totally dependent upon one another and I worry how they would cope should their partner be taken from them.
I did ask Mrs B if she wanted to go to the golf range with me or even clay shooting, she declined both, as she could not be bothered to recover the balls or stick the clays back together, otherwise we do most things as a couple.
We have some shared interests (volleyball is one that springs to mind) and many separate interests that will always remain separate.

Are you sure your'e talking about your wife dave , or your mistress ?
The only way I can be part of a couple is to have lots of time apart. No one would put up with me being under their feet for long.
The only time I am away from my other half is for the 3 days a week he works and the two hours every week night that he and our son go to the gym.
When I was married we spent plenty of time together and enjoyed it but equally were quite happy and secure nto to be in reach other's pockets and have our own thing which we did independently.
My relationship is still in the early stages but we definitely have our own lives and separate interests. He would like that to change, but I'm more than happy with the set up for the time being. I've done the whole 24/7 thing and it got a bit much!
Thank you dave50 for the memories you have opened up for me. My wife & I were together for 58 wonderful years & we did everything together & like you we never got bored of being together, she would do a wordsearch puzzle & I would be doing a crossword. We had lovely holidays together ( 4 times in the States & twice to Canada) besides Italy & Spain & always walked together hand in hand. She died in 2008 & she is sorely missed but I have smashing pics of everywhere we went to help me through until it's my time to join her.

When I was married to the first Mr Craft I played a lot of sports and he had no outside interests.
I encouraged him to have a hobby and he eventually took up squash.
His second wife is a very good squash player.....................
What about the other 7 Mr Craft's?
They were all in the same team Mrs_O..............
lol
We are never apart ......................always at each others throat, so we are.
We do virtually everything together, but OH is interested in vintage buses and motorbikes, which leave me cold, but he has made friends through this interest, and I'm interested in horse events and I have one like minded friend, but that is pretty much the only things we do seperately. Although if I'm going clothes shopping, he will not accompany me then, and I wouldn't want him to.
We generally share each others interests and we are apart very little except when I am at work, it works really well.
we are complete opposites and very independent. i think that makes the time we do spend together very special. but....that's just us! x
It varies , we are very happy to be together (28yrs) we are equally happy if either one goes off to do their own thing.

Interesting answers that shows everyone is different as I thought. The reason I asked is that someone asked to us the other day how can we live 'in each others pocket every day' and 'don't we need a break from each other?'. It's nice to know there are lots of others like us.
