I both like & dislike it. I like it a lot it is a ruby with a diamond each side. but dislike it & will not wear it any more because my now ex husband gave it to me.
I was looking at diamond rings the other day and could not believe anyone would pay £8k -£15k for a diamond engagement ring at a time when you need as much money as you can to set up a home.
My last, out of a number of engagement rings, is a solitare diamond which cost less than £100. It came with a promise that, one day, I would have a certified, proper diamond, when we could afford it. I now have that one, but I still often wear my littl'un out of sentimentality.
It's funny, though, the importance some people put on a ring. I often don't wear my rings, nbincluding my wedding ring, much to the horror of some of the members of my family. It's just a ring!
Mine was secondhand and £25, like it as much now as I did 46 years ago. Don't wear it too much as it's gone a bit delicate. Mr M wears his every day as he lost his wedding ring after loosing weight.
I got mine the day we married, we looked around antique shops in East Cowes, after the ceremony.
It was a white Sapphire
30 years later, MrF presented me with a sapphire and diamond engagement and matching eternity ring..
First one OH gave me was under £100 I chose it with a promise that when the time was right I'd get a bigger more expensive one. One our 10th Anniversary He took me to Amsterdam where I chose a 1.3 carat diamond and it was made into a solitaire ring. It is huge and sparkly and lovely but I still have my little original one though i don't wear it anymore as my fingers have got fatter with age lol!
I never take mine off (unless I am making something that needs kneading) - himself picked it out as he did my eternity ring. He wants to take some of the diamonds (little ones) out of my eternity ring and replace them with sapphires for the boys and rubies for the girls but I won't let him.
