Dilemma

Sometimes I wonder if OH's family actually give a hoot about him and his life.
Yet again they are expecting him to stay at home this Christmas for 2-3 weeks and look after his sisters cat. Now he said no last year because he had plans already and it didn't suit, now they want him to do it again this year. Am I not allowed to have Christmas with him or him with me? I said to him he can stay here with us and our brood other than that the answer is no. I do get on with his parents though but this is starting to try my patience not to mention his. Am I wrong to put my foot down?

At this stage also!! She's using him plain and simple! Parts of my husband's family have tried the guilt trip too. You have to just put your foot down and calmly say no and stick to it. If they have made plans, they alone are responsible for carrying them out.
say yes to the cat sitting, put cat in cattery day after they leave and get cat back day before they return, the cats not going to tell and on return make a bit of a fuss and say ..... that the last time that cat is going to ruin my xmas next time make other arrangements and say it like you mean it.
Alternative he only has to go home once a day to feed the cat & change the litter tray or is it too far ?
