Had sports day for the things this afternoon so had plenty of time to think and I hit upon the 'brilliant' idea of getting enough lettered 10p coins to spell each of their names in a frame for Christmas (fortunately their names are either short or they use the shortened form). There's no way I'm going to get all the letters I need in my change from the village shop so I decided to start buying some from eBay, unfortunately I'm tight so I've set myself a budget of £2 posted per coin - I've only managed to get 3 out of 20, good job I've got too much time on my hands to get the rest :)
They're the new 10 pence coins - each letter represents something quintessentially British. F is for fish and chips, C is for cricket, etc. I've never actually seen one, I just thought it would be a thoughtful gift now the kids are getting older.
I'm full of bright ideas Gness - I'm getting myself in a mucking fuddle already between the coins I'm bidding on (trying to be sneaky and looking for coins that are listed badly) and the ones I've been able to buy for less than £2 posted. Need to source some frames now.
That's a couple of oak trees and the Houses of Parliament (the coins are actually starting to look quintessentially English) - I like Q (it's got people queuing).
Gosh, I don't actually go shopping - that would involve inter-acting with people. I'll have a look at the Range online and send himself if they have what I think I want.
