Had sports day for the things this afternoon so had plenty of time to think and I hit upon the 'brilliant' idea of getting enough lettered 10p coins to spell each of their names in a frame for Christmas (fortunately their names are either short or they use the shortened form). There's no way I'm going to get all the letters I need in my change from the village shop so I decided to start buying some from eBay, unfortunately I'm tight so I've set myself a budget of £2 posted per coin - I've only managed to get 3 out of 20, good job I've got too much time on my hands to get the rest :)

What are lettered coins?
Question Author
They're the new 10 pence coins - each letter represents something quintessentially British. F is for fish and chips, C is for cricket, etc. I've never actually seen one, I just thought it would be a thoughtful gift now the kids are getting older.
What a super idea, Sherr........I don't use cash often but I will look out for these..... :-)

I'm full of bright ideas Gness - I'm getting myself in a mucking fuddle already between the coins I'm bidding on (trying to be sneaky and looking for coins that are listed badly) and the ones I've been able to buy for less than £2 posted. Need to source some frames now.
Pooh yes, I've just looked them up. That's a great idea, I will look out for those too.
Oooh^. Not pooh!
You'll need 3 'O's for an oooh Darcey.
You could do an Oh!
LOL!

That's a couple of oak trees and the Houses of Parliament (the coins are actually starting to look quintessentially English) - I like Q (it's got people queuing).
When the Olympic themed 50ps came out in 2012, I found quite a few on Gumtree and similar sites.
Have a look in The Range for frames sherrardk - that is if you have one near you.
...or charity shops. They have loads.
Question Author
Gosh, I don't actually go shopping - that would involve inter-acting with people. I'll have a look at the Range online and send himself if they have what I think I want.
What a fab idea. I’ll check my purse tomorrow for you. If I’ve got any, I’ll let you know what letters they are and you can have them, if you like.

Thanks Rocky, I can pay you via PayPal (through FB) - I'll never see one here and definitely not all the ones I want.
I've just had a look on eBay and someone on there is selling all the letters at 99p each including postage so well within your £2 limit.
Cannot your friends help, like swapping the coins for a pound when they get them??
Has anyone actually found one in their change yet?

I haven't seen one.
Anyone who is prepared to pay £2 for a 10p bit is in serious need of counselling.
