Ahh the Sudan. The Kush and the cosh. Main slave route for the Arab world until Samuel White Baker(English) put a stop to most of it. Prosperous and much coveted by the Egyptians and Turks. Now they are religious they seem unable to support or protect themselves, but it will not be the adherants to that religian that offer aid. That somehow becomes our responsibility, despite being ousted by the indigenous peoples despite bringing 60 years of peace and progress in partnership with the Egyptians up until 1955. Let the Saudis or the Iranians or the other oil rich arab countries sort it, they caused it. BTW the name Sudan derives from the arabic phrase "land of the black people"(بلاد السودان bilād as-sūdān). Not my problem ... unless you know different.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, the Ithen) Tory Government nearly DOUBLED our aid Sudan.
// It is part of a £89 million package the UK will deliver in Sudan in 2024 to 2025 – up from nearly £50 million in the current financial year. //
Funny how ABs extremists missed this announcement from Sunak in March but are all over it now there is a Labour Government giving aid to those filthy Islamist murdrers. 😀😂
I thought it wasn't on anymore for us to be 'white saviours'
late fifties... Sudan has been pretty chaotic since the egyptians and ourselves were kicked out in 1956
Favoured nation status where the Americans kept a billion dollars in a country and financed aid there is now looked on as a tool of economic imperial oppression
( paid for the archeological site I worked on 1980)
