I'm a cracking cook when it comes to roast chicken but that's no good as my girl is a vegetarian.
The real thing to remember about food is that it needs to look nice.
A tiny banger on a plate with a scoop of mash isn't gonna look dood unless you add one more scoop to make it look like a huge p**** , oh be careful with that by the way, lol.
Try and avoid any food that will cause lots of wind or anything like Spag Bol as you will be labelled a sad case for lack of originality.
Anything that requires finger licking to go with it (BBQ chicken wings or Corn on the cob are good for this)
Anything that is messy is welcome too but not too messy as it is a first date after all and you don't wanna be remembered as the slob that splashed all his goulash down his shirt.
For desert aim for something short and sweet, not too filling and something fun like a cream bun or something, again plenty of finger licking and fun food should do the trick.

Hmmm.....not a good idea to get too messy with food on the first date unless she suggests something. She may get the wrong impression and just think your a slob anyway lol But definately offer her whats on your fork ;)
Btw cockney_si, theres still lots of vegetarian things you can have a try at cooking ;)

hi,
you could have a take away pizza and beer, or pizza and a bottle of wine ( the skys the limit) or oven pizza! you can get it without meat (if needed) you could laugh at the situation (frozen pizza) and then go from there. its a first date and the futures the future. yes i understand pizza could look like not made an effort but what about superficiality? and what is real? pizza is not that bad anyway my ex boy caught me eating pizza at 3.00pm on one of our first dates(!)

i think if you had said to me come over and i will cook you dinner, being a woman, i would be wanting to know the calorific content and worrying whether you use ingredients i dont like and cant complain about! i think it would be cool if when she got there you picked a take away together, just agree with what she wants as that will make it appear you have the same taste! while waiting, open a bottle of wine and dazzle her! thats what i would like anyway!
