Do all men have any style over the age of fifty

Went out yesterday on a blind date, the chap had a old leather jacket, black trousers that looked really worn, a reasonable shirt,no aftershave and looked as if he had just got up ! there was i dressed up to the nines, smart trousers, military style jacket and nice top, put some really expensive perfume on, he commented that he liked my style!this isnt the first time this has happened, do there exes buy all there clothes,or do they just remove the cobwebs from the clothes in the wardrobe!, i really make the effort even buying a new outfit sometimes, feel that they dont bother anymore, when you see what the young men go out in these days they try and look decent and smell good, there are some really great clothes for older guys out there just a matter of lookin for them, any other abers agree!!!

legend i am over fifty, and i agree thats the chance u take when u go on a blind date, but when i look around the men who are a bit more mature, look like the missus has ironed them, and the hint of beige starts to take over!!!!

I take it that it did not go too well due to his lack of dress sense.
Some men of a certain age just don't take the trouble to look good out there.

morning cruella hope u are well!,well got a email from him saying that how he enjoyed the date, how attractive i was, great sense of humour i had, and very vivacious! and hoped that i would see him again, dont think so though no spark for me lol, didnt help when went for a indian, and there was a baby mouse scurrying around the place lol,he had a great car though a red soft topped beamer, but thats not enough for make me go out with him again!

I'm afrtaid men in general have far less of a sense of style than women, it just doesn't seem to matter to them as much.

I buy all my own clothes - except when my daughters shop for birthdays and Christmas, two of thenm always buy really nice things, the other less so, but it's all about the thought isn't it?

I always make sure what I wear matches and tones - no black jacket with brown trousers, or stripes with spots and I ALWAYS smell nice, every single day - no excuse not to!

I am nearly fifty-three, and married, but I still believe in making an effort - it's about self-respect as much as anything.

Aww...I'm sure you look very nice Andy, but I've learnt never to judge a book by its cover. Just had an appalling after-thought though - my other half has a few brownish clothes...sort of tweedy....in fact...a LOT tweedy.

Its probably more to do with the type of person he is than his age.

I went on a blind date bout month or so ago and the guy was 44, he turned up unshaven, in a CAGOUL, jeans and worn trainers, I was home within 2 hours !! lol

nothing shallow about it!
Shallow if the comment had been about the person's shape/size but if they didnt make any effort over their appearance on a first date they deserve to be laughed at!

But maybe he felt he HAD made an effort on his own terms. Personally I think it's pretty shallow to say he "deserves to be laughed at".

It seems to me academic though - the key thing in puddicat's comments was "there was no spark". There you go. If there was a genuine spark, it would be there regardless of his dress sense.

And of course there are 'stylish' (whatever that means) men over 50. But maybe the key thing is looking for that spark you mentioned and not thinking about the clothes or aftershave. And when it's there, you'll know it! Good luck.
