Some years ago, when I was in my first serious relationship, I dumped a guy by leaving him a note at his house, then walked the long way to my mum's to avoid him catching me.

It was cowardly, but I knew that if I tried to tell him face-to-face I'd feel terribly guilty and back out. Sometimes it's better to dump someone badly than not to do it at all.

These days it's a different story. I just tell 'em to sod off to their face!
