Bad behaviour
8 Answers
I have child of 7yrs, who suffers with ODD, (bad behaviour to you). We have done what we can for him, (change of diet, doctors etc.) but was wondering if anyboby knew of a 'behaviour camp' that he could possibly go to during the holidays or a weekend. I know there is fat camps and adventure camps, but anyone know of a behaviour camp?

For goodness sake get some advice from your doctor and some child and family guidance advice. Apart from anything else, what kind of a message is that going to send to your child that you don't want him. I do understand that children with this disability can be very demanding. Ask your doctor if there are family support or sitter services that you can access to get a break.
i doubt that would be a good answer to your problem if such a place exists as you will need to learn too, not just your son.
I'm assuming you have cut all crap food and are doing the EFA thing? this article may interest you http://www.whatreallyworks.co.uk/start/kidszone.asp?article_ ID=441
have you ruled out any allergies? I know many autistic children benefit greatly from a casein and gluten free diet. I believe it's something to do with these leaking into the blood stream and acting like a drug on the brain. Alot of a persons health and behaviour is down to gut health so making sure that's tip top is a good idea.
If i come across anything else i post again.
Thank you for the really negative answer woofgang. My child has ODD not ADD. He has had this since he was two and do you not think that we have had doctors advice? It's not as simple as that. I don't want to send him away for the holidays, just a weekend where he can enjoy himself and possibly be with other children who are like him. He knows he has problems, and although everyboby around him understands and helps the best we can, it would be nice for him to learn that he is not alone in his condition. Please don't answer questions if you don't understand the question, as your answers may upset!
sorry meagain,i dont really have any suggestions for you,all i can say is dont give up trying.i have friends who have children with particular difficulties/special needs so i understand how difficult it can be to get the right kind of hep for your child.one of my friends took her local l.e.a to a tribunal to get her son in the school that was right for him.she had lots of support from an organisation called aphasic.they may know of some groups or other organisations that could help you.
have you seen this website?

Hi meagain,
This probably isn't of much use to you but where I live my partner works for an organisation linked to Cahms, education, social services and youth work and they work with children just like your son, some have odd, some mental health some adhd etc, I'm not sure if its specific to our area but they work with supporting the children in school and undertake activities with them in the summer and out of hours, like you say its good because the children/young people do get to meet other individuals who are experiencing difficulites , they also work with the families to assist with coping strategies. Good luck
