Does it bother you if your partner smokes and you don't?

I've been going out with my gf for 3 years and have started back smoking again - am 23 and had given up 2 years ago. I knew it annoyed her when I smoked before and she encouraged me to give up. I'm going through a stressful time righ now and don't want to give up. I don't smoke around her too much but she makes a point of always saying she knows I've been smoking and with the smoking ban now pulls a face when I go out to have a smoke when we are in a pub. Is she been over the top about it now? I still go to the gym and play footie so I do look after myself in other ways.

everytime I go to my moms everything she lends me and the house itself absolutely stinks of cigarettes even though my dad smokes 5 a day all outside, when I was a smoker I never noticed the smell but when you have quit the smell seems more disgusting than before.
I have never moaned about it because its their choice, but it does stink continually much stronger than you would think, I was surprised how much the smell clings to everything for so long

Well Jason, you have been at the receiving end of the wrath of the politically correct. Ooooooh smoking is SO bad!
Well yes it is not good for you. in the 50s it was normal and ok and approved to be seen with a fag. Now it is disgusting beyond belief.
I however, know what it is that makes you need to light up. Don't worry about the sanctimonious, look after yourself. If your g/f really likes you, then she will stick by you, even if for a while your clothes are a bit smoky. If not, then go out and find another smoker. On here you just get lectured to by complete strangers and people who have little better to do.

I have to side with your GF I'm afraid Jason! My hubby smoked when I first met him and I never have. It wouldn't have made us split up or anything because I knew he was a smoker when we got together and I had to stick with it!
It did however effect me more when we moved in together and the house stunk, even though he smoked outside. also the cost of fags when we needed money for bills.
He stopped and started again over the years and the last time he swore he would never start again and for the first time I believe him! He has been through some terrible times, his mum died and now he's out of work but with the help of patches he has not succumbed.
I guess the choice really is yours though. If you stop smoking it really has to be your decision unless you won't stick to it. I personally don't think the amount you smoke is that much of a problem but it isn't nice to smell on someone!

I get so wound up with this. Everywhere possible is banned from smoking and yet the non-smokers still bl)0dy moan.... if he wants to smoke, smoke. At the end of the day, its his life and if his girlfriend loves him then she will stick with him. Honestly, some of these responses on here are just pathetic.
I wouldn't want a partner who keeps nipping out everywhere we go and even in the home for a smoke. It would eventually get on my nerves and make me think why am I with him. Also when your lungs collapse and your coughing at night hope you don't expect someone else to put up with it and care for you.
Stressed out there are all types of stress releif, try to find something else or go for a girl who smokes.
Would you like your future wife to smoke and you can pay for her cigarrettes to. Cost of fags and drink will always rise.
She should get rid, no offence. Smokers always turn back to fags in a crisis so this will be an ongoing battle which will never end.
