I don't know what to do.. Girl friend is obsessed with a soap star
11 Answers
My girl friend has become obsessed with an actor who's in a well known soap. Normally I would laugh this off and take it with a pinch of salt but then one of her friends told her she could follow him on Twitter and now she spends most of her time sending this guy messages. Some of them suggestive.. As far as I know he's not replying back. What can I do? It's driving me mad

yes i think you can get a crush at any age...teens will write their names over and over in multicoloured pens and drool over the posters on their bedroom walls...adults will probably be less soppy i suppose...and sending a few messages on twitter is hardly stalking or creating a shrine in her room...
sounds like shes convinced herself she will meet him one day ...

The (now ex for some time) wife of a relative of mine became obsessed with a certain boy band and started following them around, joined fan clubs etc., all when she was in her mid 30s. She excused it by saying it was something she hadn't done in her youth and she had had a marriage and family when she should have been doing that sort of thing. It was the days before Facebook, Twitter etc., so maybe nowadays she would be using those obsessively. I think it masked her dissatisfaction with her marriage, and it led to her finding another man (not one of the band, ) through the fan club thing. It's not healthy and you need to talk to her about it. The actor no doubt has loads of fans thinking that they can connect with him, but it's highly unlikely that any of them ever will.
