Onwards and Downwards March 2012

Have to say a special THANK YOU to xsticher for those yummy recipes last month and thanks to maggiebee for the humorous poem.
March is a tough month, it can be easy to be good in January and February after the excesses of Christmas but keeping going can be tough.
Do you have any particular motivation tips we can share?

I keep thinking about the Ed's question of motivation. One good motivator that I think is VERY important is all of you. Your support and finger pointing when needed is very helpful for keeping on track. Thanks to the faithful few and onwards and downwards... it seems we have all been very good this week, so let's keep up the good work.

Well done to everyone who has lost! I'm still not doing very well, but here's hoping that the new members of the Onwards and Downswards Club will inspire me with their enthusiasm.
OG, I wanted to see if your theory was right, about bath water, and you were right.... I weighed myself directly before and after a bath and found I'd put on half a pound. It's weird isn't it!?

Chins up everyone - and just say no to those sugar devils!
I've had a reasonable couple of days, very little cheese, hardly any bread and no cakes or biscuits.
But I've been so busy at work that I couldn't get out for a walk either today or yesterday and its just too late in the day now. Nevermind, I have the weekend off now and plan to do some gardening and take a couple of good walks by the sea.
Hopefully the sun'll be out and we can all enjoy the outdoors at some stage this weekend taking our minds off the grub!
Have a good weekend everyone.

You are doing really well Maidup, by the sound of it. I hadn't such a good day today. Out with friends and the friends in for a cuppa and I couldn't resist a couple of sweet things. Will try to get back on the straight and narrow tomorrow as it won't be long until Wednesday and the weekly weigh-in comes round. Tomorrow should be fine as I will be at a conference and don't imagine the food will be too hard to resist!

Hi Daffy I have had a look at the low fat peanut spread. That I would be very careful with .2 tablespoons is 13.0g carbs and 2.0g fat so to exceed that would be well over the limit. Good there is no sat. fat. I would also say that you are having too much bread especially twice in the day. Watch the sugar content in fruit .We are told to eat plenty fruit but don't over indulge on the grapes . I tend to stick with apples and tangerines 1 bannana twice a week. This is just a suggestion to you for 1 week lower you bread and use chicken and fish mainly with the odd pasta meal. This works for me so it only a suggestion for you try. Can you reduce to the lower nimble bread or even the French toast I suggested earlier. I am not an expert to tell others what to do this is just what works for me . Others might come up with more and it depends as well how much weight you want to lose so lots have to be cut out if you have a way to go.
I've been told by my diet mentor that I can't reduce the bread amounts, she said i'm not actually eating enough carbs or fat. As I am only consuming between 800 kcal and 950 kcal per day (inclusive of any fruit) I get told off by her if I reduce it further. I am beginning to think I was better off saving the money I paid for this diet service and should just go back to eating crap, at least my weight was stable at 9st 9lb then, now i'm creeping up towards 10st and it is really peeing me off!
Daffy I don't think a calorie diet suits you. I know for a fact that it don't suit me as I have tried it . I can understand you getting disheartened. Save your money and start looking at fat and carb contents I can guarantee it will work if you can stick with it as you don't seem to have much too lose. Cut down on pasta and the sauces. I still say you are having too much bread that could be your downfall cut it down for a week and see what happens.
I'll try that Wendilla, thanks for the advice.
I have doubled the amount of exercise they recommended to 30 minutes per day, I alternate aerobic (exercise bike) and toning (weights and crunches etc) and rest on Sundays. I can't walk far because of my lung disease making me breathless and my chronic pain issues so all exercise has to be done at home unfortunately.
I will be having my two young grandsons (ages 4 and 2) for two days a week starting tomorrow so i'm sort of hoping they will help me lose weight with all the running around after them I will have to do .lol

Daffy, I don't think you are having enough calories, if you are eating below 1000 calories daily, I think your body will go into starvation mode and try to hold on to its excess weight. It might help to go over a 1000 every other day and then stick with what you are doing the rest of the time. Try it and see if it works for you.
