Right - you've had the op, lost loads of weight cos you can't eat much now - but what happens when you get to your target weight? How do you maintain your weight with a tiny tum??
But you can't keep losing weight - you'de waste away! I understand that at the start you are recommended to eat high protein food - meat, fish etc and completely cut out high calorie stuff but what do you do when you get to your ideal weight - start eating crap again but in small amounts???
\\\\it changes your life FOREVER. You are on small meals and all the other limitations for the rest of your life.\\\
They wish it did..........
Most people...not all...and i don't know what %age regain their weight increase and this is mainly due to going back to their old habits......lack of exercise and over eating.
sorry sqad, i wasn't clear, yes if you live on high cal foods and don't move the weight will come back and some people do fairly extreme things to get the food they crave. What you will never be able to do is eat a normal plate of food.
this research says 10 to 30% of patients put the weight back on or don't lose it

As someone who has had weightloss surgery, I can tell you it is extremely easy to put the weight back on. However when you have paid what we have for mine (some pay more!), you would be daft to even try to!
Mayennaise, I think it is like any diet where your weight will plateau, I think you get to a point where you just can't lose anymore.
I have a few friends with a bypass and they say that you eventually get to a natural weight and fluctuate between a few pounds/ 1/2 stone up or down from it.
It may be that your target is not the same as your dodies though :)
They also said that over time (a couple of years at least) your new stomach has adapted and your habits change so that you would usualy maintain weight rather than gaining lots.
I had a by pass in August and would you beleive it hasn't worked properly!!! Althought I get dumping I can eat anything in any quantity :(
