Hello all,
Sick of talking about the weather so as per a brilliant suggestion from xstitcher, what is your favourite slimming salad to eat in the summer (or any time of year).
Let's see who can put the most interesting ingredients together that are still low calory.
We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

A pasta, prawn and celery avocado salad. use a large bowl add a good drizzle of olive oil, lemon juice freshly ground black pepper and sea salt. cube the avocado and add to the bowl, the lemon juice helps stop the avocado going brown and also makes a nice dressing, give it a stir to coat then add the chopped celery and stir again. boil some pasta, i use fusilli...

Yes we have all had our reasons for getting there, but it was definitely not on my list of things to do. Since it is easier to blame things, I choose to blame stopping smoking, but don't think it is good enough. For me, weak will power describes it best, but I did feel when I went in for seriously loosing weight and following Rosemary Connley religiously with the exercises, strict diet etc my will power was iron clad, it just didn't last unfortunately.
Help all - like yous all want to lose weight so my new jeans can be a bit more comfortable - however since I am off drink - I am substituting it with icecream. I know you will all say don't buy the stuff but my Gawd aren't you allowed a wee treat. Will tell you I ate 5 neopolitan wafers with ice cream last night - now they are small - well am riddled with guilt today - how can I stop. God you might as well wait for God to take you when you have no vices. tia
Some of us are way past the 60 mark and yes it is possible. Sometimes people think that just because we are older we have given up...no way. Many of us love fashion, new hairstyles etc. "All" it takes is focus, focus, focus on good healthy eating. You can google so much on food these days if you want a run down on what is good for you if you want to loose weight or ask us here. We are NOT experts by any means but well read up on this subject.
Can you get low fat ice cream in the UK? I like it and it doesn't guilt me out.

Welcome Connemmara as Xstitcher says just because we have a bus pass don't mean that we have to give up. This is how this post started nearly 2 and a half years ago Xstitcher asked a similar question someone replied saying why should we bother then I replied and it has gone ever since then with the ED giving us a new monthly post. We gain some people we lose some and quite a few keep coming back. As Xstitcher said we are not experts but we welcome ideas and recipes. Well I think we are experts in gaining weight that is why we need help. Look forward to hearing from you on Wednesday with your gain or loss.
It can be but less so when in the swing of it. On the other hand the nearer you get to goal it seems the less willing the weight is to shift. Take a honest look at what you are eating in terms of calories, and monitor. I know many say eating well works without monitoring but if you have a problem it's clearly not been a weight loss method to just eat how you feel in the past. If you monitor you know what you can afford to treat yourself with occasionally and what you need to substitute for something else, preferably not food related. (It also helps to have a planned day since then you don't do what I do and run out of calories for the day before the end !)
Good Morning All,
With a deep sigh of relief I can report a loss of 1½ pounds and wave goodbye to the naughty step.
I am finding that despite all the summer salads there is the summer BBQ with meat and oil. It has been an active ingredient in our meals lately with me giving hubby a 2 persons grill for his birthday so I have only myself to blame, but it doesn't seem to have had the negative side that I expected.

Thanks Wendilla, i will hang on in there. After i posted I thought about what i can do to get moving and hit the nail on the head. I need to get moving physically. I have been busy at work this week and grabbed a salad or some ryvita but I must go out for a walk each day. That's my new week's resolution.
Good luck to you this week, but enjoy your lunch too!
