Hi everybody, yup it's that time of the year when we can gorge on the lovely pommegranate seeds. You can use them as a snack or put them in a green salad with avocados for a colour blast. Google "how to deseed pommegranate s" to find out which easy method suits you. I like the water in a bowl and scooping out the white bits with a little sieve.

FASHION TIP FOR THE LADIES.... I hope you don't think I'm being presumptuous but I have just been trying on a sweater and a top with buttons 4 buttons at the neck. The top (blouse) is nice and slimming while the solid block of almost the same colour made me look larger and frumpy...even with a scarf...also tried a necklace . Also a V neckline is much better than a high round one.
Any fashion tips are welcome...they are healthy food for the soul. :-))

Amazing what can suddenly occur to one. Jamie Oliver on the box, reminded me of a foodstuff I used on previous occasions when trying to lose weight but which I've not had for ages. (I expect someone will now point out the many times it's been discussed here.) Cottage cheese. Bland and uninteresting on its own, I seem to recall chive or other versions that made it a worthwhile appetite delay tactic. Pity I did the shopping yesterday then.
I had somewhat fallen by the wayside on the dieting front. 6 years ago I lost about 60lbs when my daughter got married and yes, over the years, I have put most of it back on (I'm amazed that it's taken me 6 years - I suppose that's a result of sorts ha ha). But mid July, I decided enough was enough. I refuse to join any kind of dieting club because I'm not paying someone to tell me what I already know. So - I am using My Fitness Pal which I downloaded from the App Store. It's completely free, and because I have a fairly physical job I can eat loads and loads. I can't recommend it highly enough. In just a few weeks I have lost just under 3 stones and feel fantastic. Yes - it's easy to cheat using it, but then it's easy to cheat on any diet when you think about it, isn't it?
True. One is only fooling oneself (not one's body) to note results that don't occur. I try to note what it is I have really eaten during the day, even though, since I lost the ability to use the flash drive at work, I fail to write it on paper and my memory in the evening is decent but not 100%.
Best of luck with your loss programme. This is the nearest I've got to joining anything this time, but I don't knock the commercial dieting companies. Last time they worked for me as it was quite public seeing how the weight was going, which is a large incentive, and the advice given was useful too. Such a routine where you do something regularly does tend to keep aims in mind.

Lynda I agree with everything you say . It is up to us to have the will power as I keep stressing on here we know what to do it is just doing it . My will power is not 100% I went for lunch at my daughters on Friday and she made those gorgeous cup cakes I put a pound on just looking at them but I took 2 home with me . No one else to eat them so that was my excuse .I was like you I shifted just over 2 stone when xstitcher and I started this but I have been stuck lose a bit gain a bit but luckily not put back the 2 stone but I want a stone off .
I'm proud to say that my first goal is now achieved but just by the skin of my teeth. From now on each ounce will be a victory! It's taken a long time but I have so much more will power now that the loss and it's perks can be seen and felt. It is a loss of 12.5 kilos. Which I think is around 23 pounds.....don't know how many stones. Thanks for your humour and support. I could probably done it alone but oh my it wouldn't have been half as much fun...onwards and downwards everyone!!!
Come on Janbee, truly you have just as much will power as the rest of us, you just aren't using it because it is going to support you doing thing things that you don't think you'll like doing.
You obviously want to loose weight or you wouldn't be here. Now we don't hold with quick fixes here so it's the long haul. It took me 11 months to get where I am today with the best results starting 7 months ago when I became much more focused and got some really good tools ie menu plans to work with.
What we go in for here is healthy eating forever..no diets. This means good well balanced meals concentrating on lo fat in the foods you are using (10% and under) and lo calories. My break through came with using booklets for diabetic foods.....amazing!
Let us help you get started, just come along with questions.

Well done Xstitcher you have put me to shame when I think back how I lost 2 stone when we first started . Just need a kick start again . I am surprised I stayed the same after that lunch out yesterday but that could catch up with me .
Yes Janbee it is not easy I give into temptation too easy. I don't overeat I just don't stick to the right things . I need to stick to what I tell everyone else to do .
