Zamora Californian Zinfadel is a rich and succulent red bursting with layer upon layer of ripe berries and oodles of jamminess. This is a sophisticated wine which can be drunk on its own or ideally partner with lamb in a rich red wine gravy. Zamora Zinfandel is available from M&S for the normal price of £9.99.

Bargain of the week has to be Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon. Yellow Tail wines are the number one imported wine label in the US and, as a long time fan, I am hardly surprised. This wine is smooth, rich and has all the depth you would expect from this is"old faithful" of the grape world. Drink on its own or pair with a rich ragu. Currently available in the Co-Op for £4.99. Hurry, it won't last.

We're not wine drinkers in this house, but a wine-drinking friend of mine has said very complimentary things about Zinfadel. However I don't know whether it's the one you mention.

Try Cape Bay Reserve. It's a Western Cape South African red, made using a Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Petit Verdot grape. It describes itself as having a blackcurrant and cherry flavour. On sale at Sainsbury's at £8.99 a bottle, but 3 bottles for £12.00, buy 6 bottles and get an extra 5% discount! Resultant price £3.80 a bottle! Would definitely go with a rich ragu! Eminently quaffable.

'Traminer' perhaps? It's the old name that's sometimes still used for Gewürztraminer. Google 'australian gewürztraminer' and you'll find a couple of UK suppliers.

Tenrec... Heathfield sounds right about it being a Gewürztraminer. It's available from most wine suppliers and Tesco do a good one in their finest range, if my memory serves me correctly.

I rely on Big Kahuna from Tesco,. It's fruity and magnificent. Gets better after opening it for a couple of days! Tastes like a home made blackberry.

I think I've seen that one, Sir Ale. I too find that a bottle of red can taste better after it has been open a couple of days.
