Tv Licence Been Round (Scottish Law?) - Procurator Fiscal
HI there the Tv Licensing people were round this morning and they asked a whole lot of questions and then gave me a form saying that they are taking this to the Procurator Fiscal (I live in Scotland) and I may be prosecuted. Do I have to go to court? What could the procurator fiscal do? And could this be on my criminal record. If so I may never get a job. I have had to borrow the money from my parents to buy one and they are nagging at me so much I literrally have earache.

I know this to be true. It took me two years of arguing with them that I don't own a TV, not even a disabled one. They tried to catch me out with everything but I genuinely don't own one nd so I am on the don't pester list now.
Gordie, the law in Scotland is the same as England I believe, so yes, you could face court and yes, you will probably receive a fine, but we can't tell you that with any certainty because the decision lies with the PF.
Here's a link explaining it, but only as well as people have already tried to do. I hope it helps.

"A year without a tv licence but I am more worried about this being on a criminal record"
Then you should have bought a TV licence, then, shouldn't you?
You knew you needed one, you knew you didn't have one, you have absolutely no excuse for not having one when plenty of law abiding citizens buy theirs every year

I would love to get a job and pay for it and contribute to society but this country is overridden with European Immigrants thanks to this government letting them in willy nilly and local employers taking them on and giving them chances instead of trying to help reduce unemployment locally by employing local unemployed people and trying to get people off benefits if they are so bothered send them all home and give British jobs to British people
Why would employers take on ''East European workers ahead of 'British' ones, geordie.
Sending them all home isn't possible and wouldn't make ant=y difference if other countries reciprocated since emigration tends to pretty much cancel out immigration.
Besides, East Europeans are spending money here and contributing to the economy.
I don't think it will be much of a defence to start arguing the immigration issue. Just sell your TV or get a licence, set up a DD and plead mitigation referring to your serious health issues

In the last month I applied for over 40 jobs and had 3 interviews 1 a hotel receptionist, the other a waiter and the third one an assistant in a shop. this week I went into the hotel to meet a friend and the receptionist was from Latvia and her English was appalling, I went out for a meal to the restaurant and there was not one waiter that was British and I went into the shop this week and the person serving me was from Poland and I heard her boss say to someone that she was a new start. Now how can someone from this country be expected to find work if this is going on? There is no reason why a British person could not do any of these jobs.
