My husband is a self-employed decorator. This year he has been conned by these publishing companies who try to get you sponsor wallcharts etc and tell you that the proceeds go to various charities. In actual fact the wallcharts, booklets etc seldom get published and the charities get some ridiculous amount like 3p on the pound (if at all). About a dozen companies he has been pestered by and I am sure they are all connected, the scripts the sales people use are all very familiar, and if you ask too many questions of them they just hang up!! Anybody else been had??

All a bunch of crooks. A business can register for telephone preference services to stop these idiots
There are a lots of these companies and they are operating just inside the law.

As long as the charities receive some of the money then its above board.
I get these people all the time. I just say sorry but all this years advertising budget is spoken for. You need to register with TPS and when they call up the next time just say TPS and they will put the phone down on you. Or you could say hang on I will put you through to the Financial Director then start barking like a dog.
It's really easy to wind these people up.Just "sell" back to them.

If its double glazing try to sell them a conservatory, if its advertising sell them a space in your diary etc they soon get fed up! Works every time
