Received a solicitor letter today from ex partnner saying he has a financial interest in my property the letter also said that the home was promised for life,he moved into my property 7 years ago only on my name no kids togeather and he was on my benefit claim has a couple.all household bills in my name and paid out of my bs account,the benefit money went into this account.ex partner had credit card debts all in his name total 15000 and he has been made bankcrupt twice also,when he left my propperty he stole my paper work which included my mortgage payment book which i made payments over the counter ,i think he has shown that to the solicitor has evidence that he made the payments I have been told also that he is going to register a benifical interest on my property .Please someone offer some advice i already have a very large legalaid bill on my house to do with my ex husband and he gets a %when i sell,there is a mesher order in place.

you need legal help , he is obviously trying to gain money from this claim of his against your property.

so i will have to contact a solicitor then that will mean more legal aid costs,and its picking one that is good which can be a problem,cant believe i am fighting once more for my home.
Sorry do not know the legalities of all this -- but you must be devastated and i feel for you. get advice free if you can , CAB or a solicitor who gives some free time , do not let this man grind you down .Brenda.
My Ex tried to this with my house. He got no where. Because the house was in my name as well as all the bills and everything went out of my account.....My solicitor just laughed.
I'm assuming that the following facts are correct. The CAB or the 'free' solicitor wil advise. They may well advise that you write to the solicitor saying that you do not know what the solicitor has been told by his client but his client is not paying now and never has paid anything towards the mortgage or any other bill. You would however appreciate it if his client would return the mortgage payment book and the other paperwork which his client has mischievously taken.His client has no interest in those documents. The property and mortgage are in your sole name.You have been obliged to make the payments without that original book as the mortgage company can confirm..
Any claim will be strenuously resisted,it being without any basis whatsoever.You would be interested to know on what basis, other than a false and misleading one, in law or equity, his client bases his supposed claim.Perhaps, in the light of the above, he will reconsider and you'll hear no more about it
