I want to open a savings account but as I am 17, do I have to have a childrens account or can I apply for a different one with better interest? I have looked on the website for where I want to open one (Nationwide) but couldn't find any information, I was hoping to open a savings account such as a cashbuilder account. Could anybody tell me whether I can apply for one of these or whether I need a childrens account?
Thanks.

At the age of seventeen you should be able to apply for any type of savings account you like.  Age limits usually apply to account with overdrafts or cheque guarantee cards, things like that.

I have just looked on Nationwide's website for their Cashbuilder account and it says that you need to be over 11 years so you will be fine.
