Rented Room In House
My son has never ever rented anywhere before but decided he needed to start somewhere so he heard of a house that had been converted into 6 separate rooms each with wardrobe ,bed, fridge etc. 2 shower rooms and full use of huge kitchen which was still being finished the day he viewed room. He liked it and paid deposit and signed 6 month contract. He's moved in and then three days later the landlord says he isn't putting in a washing machine as there is a launderette down the road. Well it didn't occur to my son that he wouldn't be installing one and he is really unhappy. It only will he have to drag everything to launderette and pay a fortune every time but also sit there and wait for it. Can he do anything at all? It seems a bit unfair.

If he puts everything in together on a cool wash, he'll prob get away with just 1, possibly 2 washes a week, so it shouldn't be too much hassle and shouldn't break the bank as well.
I shared a flat with 9 other lads when I was 18 .... it was enough hassle sharing the kitchen and 2 shower rooms - I couldn't imagine what it'd be like sharing a washing machine :)

try it and see
and move out in six months if it hasnt
does he read ? tell him to take a book and read it whilst the washing is doing
It is what we all did - makes you read a really boring book you have been putting off
I dont think any judge will say that no washing machine is a deal breaker unless the tenant said before hand it was

No one expected a washing machine in a rented house, back when I was a student and sharing houses. If anyone had one we'd see it as a huge luxury.
Going to the launderette is not such a chore. As it's just down the road, he could put his wash on and pop back for a cuppa for half an hour, then the same again for the drying.
