Card Declined
11 Answers
I have just put in a small order for children's toys from Amazon, the order was confirmed by email, then another email received to say my card (Barclaycard Visa) was declined. I know there is no problem with my card, but selected another 'payment option' (American Express) and that too was declined. There is more than enough money in both accounts. I am reluctant to ring up the cards helpline as you can go round in circles on these. Presumably they will cancel the order if payment really doesn't go through, I dont want to re-order in case I get sent two! The order still shows on my Amazon Account as being delivered next week. Help please.
PS: I checked my Barclaycard account and it is OK, plenty of credit and nothing unordered by me.

I had a card refused once and discovered it was because the card had been renewed by the bank (routine renewal as card had expired). The card details were unchanged from the old card but Amazon had noted the card had passed its expiry date. I just updated my card details on Amazon (just the expiry date) and all was well.
Thanks for your suggestions, however the expiry date is next year and it is correct on the order. Will try ringing Amazon later, failing that Barclaycard, strange that the AE one failed too. Could it just be a temporary blip with Amazon, if so, should I reorder or just see if the order arrives next week. The order is not urgent.
