Opening Basic Bank account in UK.
4 Answers
Lady freind has adverse credit, ie morgage arrears which are now cleared, three other debts which are still outstanding.
First we need to obtain a bank account for her wages, then we will move on to her debtors.
Need advice on what companies will help, went into Lloyds-TSB and even though we were very honest they point blank refused. Trawled net companies offering accounts at charges from 39.99 to 145. Some to provide just a list, 'others' offer accounts but don't provide any details. Just checked one which is apparently based 4 miles from where i live and the post code / Rd doesn't exist. She needs ATM card, Tel / Int banking, no cheque book etc required.

I had a similar problem myself. I opened an account with the cooperative bank and found them very helpful. They did not judge me because of my circumstances. My account is a basic account where I have my salary paid in, direct debits come out and I also have a visa electron debit card. I do not have an overdraft facility (which is a good thing lol!). There is also an internet banking facility. I recommend them.
