An ex partner is demanding I pay off half of his debts on credit cards in his name. He says if i dont agree to pay half he will register a charge on my property. Can he do this. The cards are in his name only and he used them to fule his alcohol and gamboling addictions. The cards were never used to buy me anything. Where do I stand?

If you are not married I would not have thought you are in any way liable.
Unless you are (or were) married he cannot do this. The debt is his, in his sole name, and you do not have any legal liability for it.
