How to get a copy of a will

My step nephew wants to get a copy of his grandfathers will. He has no death certificate but knows he died in June 1991. and where he died. How would he go about finding this information, we have looked online and believe the records are kept in York, are we able to go there and request a copy or do we have to do it in writing.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You have to write - there is a form available on the Court Service website. You also have to pay �5 and it takes about 6 weeks to arrive.
