Do they receive working/family tax credits if so they can contact them to get more.
If not they may be entiltled to receive them.
Thats the only benefit i beleive they or he can get.
If they have children they can get child tax credits, they may not qualify for both depending how much she earns, i think if its over 13 or 14k they wont get working tax, but if they have kids the limit to how much they are is a lot higher.
Depends on why he lost his job. Unless he resigned, if he has been paying tax/NI then he should be entitled to Job Seekers allowance - provided he is actually looking for a job. Some benefits are means tested and his wife's income and any saving they have or their children(if any) have will be taken into account. Others aren't and are based on entitlement e.g job seekers. He really needs to contact his local Benefits Agency or Citizens advice to get a comprehensive guide and assessment of what he is entitled to. Hope he gets something else soon.
But is doesn't matter about how or why he lost his job where tax credits are concerned i know that much.

I dont do that though both me and my partner work full time.
He was asking what he can do as he lost his job, he may want another job, tax credits is there when needed, might be only till he gets another job.

It does matter why he lost his job, if he resigned then he would not be entitled to job seekers allowance, he may have had to leave through ill health and therefore be entitled to to sickness or disability benefits. There is a whole lot more out there than working family tax credit etc. There is no suggestion from the post that this is anything other than a genuine person who has lost his job and is not some benefit scrounger - or he would certainly know what he is entitled to. The benefit system was designed to provide some protection to people in this circumstance, the fact that it is habitually used by people who can't be @rsed to work is another story. I have been lucky enough to not have needed to claim benefits, but did have loads of problems with my tax when I was in between jobs for 3 months but did not claim any benefits. They seemed to assume that I was working and not paying tax rather than living on my savings. I would encourage your pal to claim if only to stop the hassle when he does return to work.

It does matter to job seekers but not to tax credits or child tax credits if you like
Depending on what National Insurance Contributions he has paid over the last couple of years he may be entitled to Jobseekers Allowanc Contribution based, in this case his wifes earnings are disregarded and he claims just for himself. He would still need to be looking for work and 'Sign On' every two weeks.
Yes but not that much, even if it just pays for his national insurance stamps.
