I used to have a mobile phone contract with Orange and Mar 2007 last year i received a bill for over 400 i called them quering this and was told this was due to excesive internet usage on the phone. To cut a long story short i called them and asked to pay a bit every months towards this and was told this was not possible and that i would have to pay the full amount something that is was not able to do at the time. I then moved adress and started saving to pay this of and in jan 2008 i contacted orange to pay this and was told it was with a debt collection agency i got their details and then paid the full amount on 13/02/2008 i was asked whether i wanted to be reconnected with orange and rejected this due to the poor service received in the past. Now the problem i am having is that Orange have defaulted the acount with credit referance agencies purposelly after i paid the full amount and are refusing to change this. Can anyone help does anyone know why they defaulted the account after it was setled? I have contacted them and they refuse to change this to show the late payments on my account and then settled rather that the default they have added. Please let me know
It was in default the minute they passed it to a debt collection agency. You received a bill in Mar 2007 and pay it 11 months later and expect it not be be recorded as a default?
I am probably missing something here, but I suspect you have got it (_!_) upwards. You - rightly or wrongly - defaulted BEFORE it went to a debt collection agency, and as such it affected your credit rating then, not after.
