my partner is 10 years older than me and tells me that if we get married she will have to wait until i reach state pension age before she can receive hers, is that correct?

No, that is not correct. If she has paid her NI contributions she will get her pension when she reaches state pension age, whether that be 60, as it is now, or 65 after the new rules are implemented.
It could even be 68 depending on how young you are!
Or indeed an age between 60 and 65 whilst the transition period from the two ages occurs for women, starting in 2010.
