My son was paying into an occupational pension. He left their employ but returned after a month.
Since then he has not been paying into it.
However, he receives every year an update from Scottish Equitable on his "Group Personal Pension Plan" with the Scheme Name being his Employers Name.

He has not paid anything into this since his return to their employ. yet is receiving this notification every year.
Does this mean he was contracted out?

Can anyone please explain this to me.

Doesn't it simply means he was a 'live' member and now he is someone with accrued benfit rights so he gets a periodic statement. I don't see the connection to being 'contracted out'
I think it does mean just that.
He is currently not contracted out.
Hi kloofnek- when you say 'contracted out' do you mean 'contacted out of the second pension'?
