Thursday

Though it could be recalled up until the following Wednesday

Assumes 23rd is a normal banking day - not sure about that
yes 23rd is normal x
I've got a Barclays account and recently enquired about how long a cheque would take to clear. I was told that it's 'five working days' but that the day that the cheque is paid in actually counts as 'Day 1'.

So I'd expect the money to be in your account on Friday.
It's always 5 working days when I pay cheques into my Barclays account. It might clear on Friday but I don't think before then.
I paid a cheque into my account on Friday morning and was told it would clear on Thursday so I should think your cheque will clear on Friday.

Thank you all for your answers.
cheque paid in Monday
goes through clearing house Tuesday
Arrives at paying bank Wednesday.
If returned unpaid will be back at your Bank thursday to be debited.
Cleared funds Friday for withdrawal.
Could be late returned up to noon Thursday. but should phone your bank to let them know.

However at this time of year a returned cheque could be delayed in the post.
Also I think the rules on forged cheques has been changed since I retired and it could be returned unpaid several weeks later.
