But, and it's a big but, there are an awful lot of "expenses" that we all pick up for her majesty that don't come out of the civil list.
If you look at these figures you'll notice a lot of transport costs significant by their absence - When the Royal Yacht Britania was still in service this cost �8 million a year to run in itself! The Royal train costs over �50 per mile and Balmorals' a long way away! The Travel grant is �5 or 6 million .
The total official estimate is �37million a year (the 60p per person)
But then there's the small matter of �30 million a year that the security operation surrounding them costs,and the fact that the tax they pay (when they pay it is let's say advantageous)
All in all nice work if you can get it!
