Does anyone know if there is any truth in this. Someone told me that if you are approached by a robber at an ATM, if you put your pin number in but in reverse, you will still get your money but the police will be dispatched immediately, apparently a new thing by law. I have never heard of it, maybe a daft rumour, but would be good if true I guess

As my PIN starts and finished with the same number I have often entered it in reverse, especially after a few bevvies. The only result was that once after three goes it kept my card and I had to go home potless until the next day when I could get to the bank with my chequebook.

When chip and pin first came out I was standing behind an elderly lady at the checkout who was paying by card. When asked to enter her PIN she exclaimed, "Oh dear, now, what is it again? Ah, I remember, Battle of Hastings!"

You've just ruined my OH's evening, he's convinced this is true, he read it somewhere! I did wonder about palendromic numbers.

This has been on AB before and it is not true.

The police could hardly keep a part of their force standing around waiting for signals from ATMs. They haven't got enough personnel to do their normal jobs.

I would not think so as my number is the same both ways.

It is a nice idea though.
