British Gas Scam?

Today I received a call purporting to come from B. Gas - a recorded message asked me to press any key. I was suspicious of this so cut off the call. Is this some sort of scam?

But you are right to ask.....

It could be a scam....The very fact that you were asked to press any number.

I do not have gas, but, in your position, I would have rung BG and enquired.

It is usual practice for the recorded message
to state " press a button if you Joe Bloggs "
(for example) "
This is done to direct the message to the
person to which it is intended.
