Surely if you have been fortunate to have invested enough beforehand, then you could draw a massive pension at 40 ? Or else why have I been paying in £5,000,000 a week for the last 10 years ?
Because you've been getting tax relief at your highest marginal rate on those contributions O_G, there's a restriction on how early you can start to draw on your pension. I'm afraid you'll have to wait quite a few years until you are 55.
Thinking again about the point about withdrawing pensions as cash following the budget changes, I think that applies only to personal/private pension schemes and not to company schemes provided by your employer (unless they are below a small figure) so I don't think it generally applies to these new workplace pensions.
