What Is Pscs

My bank account has been credited with a payment of £200 from the DWP. On the bank statement it is marked as PSCS. What is it and why have I received it?. I am not of pensionable age nor receiving income support. I do get disability allowance.

PSCS is Pension Strategy Computer System. Sounds to me like Winter Fuel Allowance, which is paid to those who were born before 5 January 1953.

And that, of course, retreats a year for every year you live, in order for the government to renege on it's agreement with you.

//Who can get a Winter Fuel Payment

If you're a woman, you can claim a Winter Fuel Payment when you reach State Pension age. You must be State Pension age in the qualifying week for the winter concerned. The qualifying week always begins on the third Monday of September.

If you're a man, you can claim a Winter Fuel Payment when you reach the State Pension age of a woman born on the same day as you. You must be this age in the qualifying week for the winter concerned.

To qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment for the winter of 2015/2016 you must have been born on or before 5 January 1953.//

You should also get a letter from the DWP informing you that the payment is imminent...I find the letter is always after the payment.

As my heating is included in my rent I have no extra charges in winter so this is a very welcome bonus.
