If they are legalised then I assume they'll have to be registered, taxed, insured etc.

better than on the pavement. I wouldn't be riding one but I suppose it's as safe/unsafe as a bike.
I just got back from Palma Mallorca a week or so ago and they were all over the place. There didn't seem to be any problem with other traffic or pedestrians.
Ain't progress wonderful. Scooters are for kids in the Rec. Nobody is about to legislate against errant lycra louts taking over the highways and byways. We have enough cyclists wiped up in London and TFL are affording them all the cycleways they want at present. If you are currently unemployed consider a career in undertaking. Business will be thriving.

yes retro, all we need now are driverless jam jars!
That bloke in the picture looks a right cock!
Electric scooters are being introduced all over the world, with some positive effects.
Meanwhile in England/UK we get the perennial moaners who just don’t like any change.
Market forces will prevail, if there is a proven business argument for them. They will prevail regardless of the luddites.

Lol. As I wrote earlier there is a waiting business and market forces will prevail. Called the Co-Operative Funeral Plan.
They will indeed. Tora seems to think technology can be put back in its box and forgotten about. He seems to forget that legislation on emissions will kill the petrol engine shortly and there’s a huge industry adopting electric vehicles trying to save it. But I doubt he’s thought that far.

As well as retrocops answer I can lawyers4you being busy with claims from people being knocked over on the pavement.
I was talking to a taxi driver in Glasgow, today. All the city centre roads now have a 20mph limit due to the amount of people being knocked down......because they have hoodies up and earphones in. True story!

ZM I'm way ahead of you and your twee comments.
I'd like one for Christmas.
Question Author
ZM: "all the city centre roads now have a 20mph limit due to the amount of people being knocked down." - and you think driverless cars will be safe in that lot?
Togo: Like the push bikes they'll be on the pavement most of the time anyway.
Question Author
ZM: "Tora seems to think technology can be put back in its box and forgotten about." - this ain't new me ole china.
Electric anything has got to be better that polluting cars and lorries.
They'll be here soon enough, whether the Luddites like it or not.

But I would not like to be on one when it hits a pothole
Seems ridiculous to me. Unnecessary additional form of transport. Fit folk can walk, disabled have mobility vehicles already. A danger to themselves on roads, a danger to pedestrians on pavements. These scooters should be removed, along with bicycles, for a better society, not allowed/encouraged.
In what way is you not realising there’s an industry about to go pop if they don’t move into electric vehicles, a sign of you being way ahead of me? Me old china.
Question Author
ZM: This is nowt to do with electric vehicles in the normal sense. this is about those eejits buzzing about on electric scooters on and off the pavement. Now wanting to be legit. If You'd like to discuss electric vehicles generally start a thread and I'll be an enthusiastic contributor.
