I have been on benefits for a long time with some bad credit. I am now digging out of the debt hole and have got a job and come off benefits. I am still at college most days. Is there a chance i may be accepted for a proper bank account now as i could not before.

Many banks now offer a basic account which gives you a cash card (for autobanks), no debit card and no cheque book. Have a look online and good luck.

Sory ginger but meant to add that there must be a place at college where you can get free advice and also that the Citizen's Advice Bureau are very good.
