Sending money to Pakistan

I would like to send a small sum of money to a friend in Pakistan and would like to find the cheapest way of doing this. I have heard about ikobo but am not sure if this is a safe method. Would appreciate any advice on this.

Western Union is the longest established money transfer service but can be pricey to use.

I don't think you need have any worries about Ikobo. I use Ikobo to send funds to both Russia and the Czech republic and I'm happy to recommend their service.

Another thought: MoneyGram is a popular service. You can pay money in at any post office (or branch of Thomas Cook) as well as online.

If you're thinking of using either Western Union or MoneyGram it would be best to check their website first to confirm that they've got an agent conveniently close to the recipient in Pakistan:

The cheapest way would be to send cash (notes) in an envelope - either sterling or rupees. However, it's not very safe, though you could send it International Recorded for around �3 extra - could still be cheaper than some other methods.
