Such a shame about P&O ferries and the people who have lost their jobs.

There is talk of replacing the old staff with agency contractors from god knows where ( sounds like slave labour which is standard where the owners are from) They must be paid very little to make some sort of significant savings to mop up £200 million losses over the pandemic period. I understand this is probably a longer term strategy but it still makes it impossible for any European person to work for P&O!!

We do not treat our workers here in this awful way. The unions and government should get involved and stop this practice.

Yes, a shame, I used to have shares in P&O back in the day and travel on their ferries regularly. This is a big fall from grace ...
Nasty way to do this. The standard of service will drop.
not good the way it was executed... can see stand off on board some ships to demonstrate
P&O were losing 100 million Per Annum according to the news.
terrible way to dismiss people, it's not right at all.
Very underhanded, hope they go to the wall.
Yet in 2020 they paid out over 270 million to shareholders and during the pandemic they got millions from the government.
I'm surprised the senior management didn't resign, when the orders to do this came from Dubai.
Is there anything we still own , in Britain?
not much by all accounts....
Not even Thornton's chocolate, Baz
