Why Would I Need Access To A Car For A Temp Job?

It's an ongoing temp role for secretary/administrator in a healthcare setting.  The agency forwarded me a brief job spec saying, amongst other things, 'You would need access to a car for this role'.  I've never heard of this before being a requirement for a role like this and I wonder if anyone might know why.  I did ask the agency and they said, "It just came through on the job spec from requiring manager".

Maybe the company has various premises and will want you to travel between them

well sounds pretty definite not a nice to have....so if you dont have acccess to one then its not for you. If you do, you might need to travelto different sitessometimes,,,, wouldyou be prepared to use your car assuming you got expenses

Here in largely rural Suffolk, it's common to see something along those lines in job specificatons. 

It usually translates as "We're stuck out in the middle of nowhere, with no bus route nearby. So the successful applicant will need their own transport to get to work at this location".

Why would a temp job be any different from a permanent role in this respect ?

 

It seems obvious the role covers different venues.

You may need business insurance if you're travelling for work.  It's usually free.

It might not be that they have multiple sites, it could be to go for stationary supplies, medical supplies or even to get the butties on a lunchtime.
