Lost Debit Card Replacement
Someone I know lost their debit card on Sunday. She rang the bank and cancelled it and the card was subsequently found and returned to her. The bank told her a replacement would be sent by post within 7-10 days. Not prepared to wait, she went straight to her local branch as soon as they opened this morning and says a replacement was 'printed out' in 5 minutes and given to her. I'm struggling to believe that. Is it possible?

I don't see how a plastic card could be replaced there and then...the name and numbers need to be punched/impressed. Do banks now have the equipment? Portable card printers? 🤣 Considering they are all closing, I'd think the less they have to do, the better.
We have an account with Metro Bank. We rarely use our debit card and, because of lack of usage, mine had expired even though the date on it was still valid. We went into the bank and they printed us a new up-to-date one there and then -tokk about 10-15 minutes. We happened to go into the branch last week to get some change. I was sitting waiting for my wife when I overheard a lady telling her friend she was waiting for them to print her a new card. It seems to be the way Metro Bank works.
