So it seems, Abbey , that you haven't been underpaid after all. Unfortunately there may be no big tax rebate to help boost your finances, so your focus now has to be on finding a full time job or a second part time job, and cutting back on spending including takeaways, nails, bottomless brunches and driving lessons for the forseeable future

20 hrs a week is not full time

A full time job is genreally considered to be about 37 hours a week.

Abbey, 20 hours a week isn't full time! Even the 30 hours (which got cut to 9) wasn't what most people would call full time. You could get a full time job tomorrow and still find that a boss makes you feel uncomfortable, a supervisor  will have it in for you, the workers won't do anything socially, you are not appreciated... and all the other things that have plagued your employment!

21.50  Forgive me Abbey but you do spend a heck of a lot of time posting to AB even when at work!

abbey- why are you saying "what direct debits" to me.?

I mean the ones you mentioned when I asked you tonight whether you were paid a week's wage 2 days ago 2 days ago. You answered "Yes I was but paying direct debits"

I think some ABer quoted this previously but here it is again and maybe apply  ...

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!

NMA, Abbey mentioned - a few pages ago - that she had rent, phone bill, Disney and driving lessons to pay for, I don't know if those were the DDs.

Abbey, you mentioned your mum 'still wants rent'. Do you not think of it the other way round - ie you've got a roof over your head, heating, lighting. laundry facilities, meals... all things that should be paid for (ideally by the person getting them_?

Thanks NAC, maybe some of those are DDs- although  'rent' to her mum is more likely to be a Standing order.

abbey also has an overdraft.

It would also help if you stopped taking unpaid holiday.

No I been told need more than 30 to get a car. It just temp 20 hours a week till I get full time

Do your parents have a car which you could use should you ever pass driving test?

It's manual om learning auto

Need more than 30 to get a car?

Yes, maybe 50 hours a week to run and insure it...... after you've saved up over a few years to buy one. Forget the car idea for now. You can't even afford to pay your overdraft and rent.

Being truthful, Abbey, I think looking to purchase a car should be pretty far down your list of things to consider at the moment. When you are at work later this morning, just ask again if they could offer you more hours.

And ask for a payslip and your tax code.

And before work or on your day off ring or email your last employer for your p45.

If my mum asks why haven't I got money as I'm working what do I say?

The truth, Abbey, the truth!

Be an adult and give her the respect she deserves and tell her the truth.
