House selling in Scotland

I bought a house last year and am thinking about selling. If I'm not going to get what I paid for it then I don't want to sell. My question is, if I put my house on the market and I don't get offered enough for it will I lose out in anyway if I just tell the estate agent that I've changed my mind and don't want to sell anymore?

you will be charged a fee if you withdraw it from the market. Why not get your own place surveyed and see what the reports values it to be. That way you can also see potentional problems. You can get a free evaluation from your local estate agent, who will be able to advise whether it's worth selling.

By the way, this might be a long shot, but if you are anywhere around Glasgow, do you know of any reputable and reasonable painters? I just know I'll open the Yellow Pages and get the biggest cowboy since John Wayne...

As said, you will have to pay for the cost of the process up to the point at which you withdraw the property from the market, but to the best of my knowledge you are actually not bound to accept the highest or indeed any of the offers received (that will normally be a condition of the market placement).

Soozmac - sorry for not answering yuor question until now! I only moved to Glasgow last year so don't know any painters - sorry. I wonder if there's a website where you can rate painters and plumbers etc? - like you give feedback on Ebay! That would be useful - or maybe they could sell their time on ebay then get (and give) feedback!
