I am splitting up with my partner. We bought a house a couple of years ago and i really do not want to lose my home if i can help it. I was wondering if anyone knew of any financial help you can get if living on your own. I dont earn a fortune so i would be grateful for any help as otherwise i doubt i will be able to afford it.

I think the best advice would be to call or visit your local citizens advice bureau. Ive been to them before for financial help and they were brilliant. Or there may be a benefits shop near you which will advise you of anything you are entitled to claim. it really depends on whether you rent or are buying your home but this site may be of some use to you
hope this helps x
Hello there,
Don't know if you're still interested in having the loan, email me on [email protected] if you're still much interested in having the loan.
You own the house (jointly with your partner?). If you work more than 16 hours a week you cannot claim income support so cannot get any help with your mortgage interest. (Housing benefit is only for people who rent - it doesn't help with mortgages.)
If your income is low you may be able to get Working Tax Credit (www.hmrc.gov.uk) and, if you have children, Child Tax Credit.
You might also qualify for Council Tax Benefit (your local authority can tell you).
