Contract termination
I joined a Gym last year, but have since moved. I notified the gym of my cancellation(I was told I could cancel my membership if I moved) giving them 1 months notice. Due to a delay in providing the required details to them they have logged a debt against my credit rating and are demanding the full payment for the membership totaling over 400. I never even went to the gym as I injured myself shortly after I signed up, I am so p****d off the whole thing.
Has anyone else had any similar experience or can What are my legal rights are. Up to now I have had a perfect credit rating and find this so frustrating.
Any advice is really appreciated. Thanks!

However they do seem to have gone overboard with their response. Why don't you offer to pay the months notice that you forfeited, admit it was your fault and see if they are reasonable? If you speak to someone direct at the gym you went to they may be a lot nicer than the records department that send out the letters.
good luck
I moved, and never got my mail directed in time, hence had to collect my mail as and when I could, hence the delay. All this I explained in writting but seems to have been ignored. I've not had any contact from the gym, all communication seems to be from a third party management company. I'd also like to point out that there was no time frame in any corresspondence from them to say I needed to respond by any given date, just that I nedded to provide proof of moving(utility bill etc.)
The last coresspondence from them was 22/11/05 to which I did not reply until mid Jan 06. The delay is my fault and was made worse by the fact that I did not get to collect any mail over Xmas and after my last response thought the matter closed.
